Bug Alert – Google Calendar Android App

We all depend on calendar apps in one way or the other for keeping track of our meetings, reminders or other important events (~70% as per a survey). With more than a billion downloads, Google Calendar is probably “the” most used calendar app right now. Recently i came across a bug in the Google Calendar Android app and sharing the details below –

Observation
Google Calendar Android app has a bug while showing meetings with duration less than 30 mins. In the app UI, all the meetings of less than 30 min appear to be of 30 min duration.
However, no such issue is observed on the web version and there the meeting tiles are shown in proper size.

In the above screenshots, i had created 3 test meetings with the below durations –

  • 1:15pm – 1:30pm
  • 1:30pm – 1:45pm
  • 1:45pm – 2:00pm

Rather than showing 3 back to back meetings of 15 min each, the Android app UI is showing overlapped meetings and each meeting appears to be of 30 min.

Expected Behavior
The size of the meeting tile in the Android App should be decreased proportionately depending upon the duration of the meeting (just like the way it happens in web version).

Note
I haven’t been able to test the issue in the iOS App but my hunch is that the issue would be present in the iOS App as well .
